    1. Obviously well researched, and with characters that in general made me care, enough that I wanted to read to the end to see how it came out However I gave it only three stars because in my opinion it was poorly edited a good editor could have polished it enough that I would have given five stars The story about two Jewish sisters caught up in the times just before and the start of WWI was engaging, but some of the characters just seemed not fleshed out, and the POV often mysteriously skipped aro [...]

    2. An engaging story, that includes information from history that few of us have really understoodAn engaging story, that includes information from history that few of us have really understood A wonderful story of a family from early 20th Century Russia and their struggles to find new life in America Like all families, their path is neither easy nor straight The author moves effortlessly through the stories within the stories and for anyone whose family roots linclude the struggles of immigrating [...]

    3. Strong plot but the writing lacked style and depth I found myself engaged in the story The dialog was sometimes so weak and inappropriate for the period that my connection to the book would be temporarily broken However, it is a quick read with lots of twists and turns Though not great, it was enjoyable.

    4. I enjoyed this story and wondered if it actually happened to the author s ancestors It was very credible and was a fast read It is based upon the lives of two very close sisters who both had very strong personalities and the triumphs and tragedies in their lives They never wavered in their attachment and beliefs in one another.

    5. A fast light read Sometimes the story got a little like a fantasy romance novel I found Misha to be a bit of a Jeckyl Hyde character and as his relationship with Rebecca evolved in the story towards the end I wonder how much was actually based on the experiences of the author s family history.

    6. An excellent novel by a first time author The story was of the trials and tribulations of a Jewish family that left their old country to come to the USA As you see, I read the book in just a little over 24 hours There were several typos and minor mistakes that I am beginning to wonder if it is when it is transcribed to e reader these errors occur.

    7. Oh, my The things a mother does for her children A wonderful story of a Jewish family in Russia who immigrates to America You never know what kind of twists and turns this book takes, but it makes one feel very lucky to have a family

    8. I started this book because I was interested in the story line but the twists and turns in the plot became far fetched and the writing seemed to weaken as the book progressed.

    9. while it was a very simply written book, I found myself sucked into it I almost missed my metro stop a couple of times great first effort by Abbi Sherman Schaefer

    10. I finished this book in two days, the plot was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I found many of the story lines quite far fetched It was not well written or edited either.

    11. this book is wonderful I read it in 24 hours during the New Years break It is one of those you have to remind yourself to eat and sleep.Love this book
