    1. Where to start.Hmmm.Who are the Blackhawks Ok, the Blackhawks are a super duper secret agency made up of the best soldiers and computer geeks in the world Badass Except for the part where some kid with a cell phone and access to YouTube busts them in the first few panels.Wait So they re trained to do nothing but covert missionsd yet a pimply teenager manages to out them Yep.But you said they had the best hackers on the planet working for them, right Couldn t they somehow squash the video One wou [...]

    2. I ve read and reviewed so many New 52 titles now, I ve noticed that I m making the same criticisms for the books that fail and feel that instead of going over them again there should be a label to describe them all in shorthand New 52 ed out , Fifty Poo The criticisms are thus this is Volume 1 of 1 this series was rightfully cancelled and yet there s no intro for these characters or this series New readers to Blackhawks like me will have no idea what this series is supposed to be about, who the [...]

    5. wasn t that bad, but wasn t that great, either i love this genre, so i would have liked for this book to have worked.

    6. I ve been trying to make my way through the entirety of DC s New 52 line of books With the completion of this book, I ve now read at least one volume in 36 of the 52 series from the original launch I ve been using free 5 gift cards that I ve won from various sites to order a bunch of New 52 titles here lately I found this book for 95 cents plus shipping.I was hoping this series would tie into or include members of Wildstorm comics Black Razors They were a military group tied to I.O the main gove [...]

    7. Part of the New 52 DC Comics relaunch Collects Blackhawks 1 8 after that the series was cancelled Not a very interesting story, mostly about fighting a villain named Mother Machine Only worth picking for the hard core collector. From the Plot Synopsis As a part of DC Comics The New 52 event of September 2011, welcome to a world waging a new kind of war that s faster and brutal than ever before It s fought by those who would make the innocent their targets, using computers, smart weapons and lase [...]

    8. This isn t too bad really, but it had potential than it gave It s an action adventure high tech military operation kind of like A Team, but character driven and sci fi like Stargate while the enemy they meet is a hive collective like the Borg So that s all really cool, but sadly there is no character development, almost all the characters are created from scratch for this series and there are no back stories for anyone Boo Lady Blackhawk, of course, is a mainstream DC character, but I don t kn [...]

    9. After reading this trade collection of the first eight issues and thus, the entire series of Blackhawks, I can say I m not surprised that this was one of the first casualties of the new 52 This book has no connection with any of DC s previous Blackhawks, other than the name and the insignia that the characters wear A super secret though they get outed , black ops though we see their U.N funding meetings , super spy organization Nothing places this within the DCU there s one off handed mention of [...]

    10. This comic reads like a bad action movie covert ops team What kind of covert ops team puts their symbol on the side of their planes and then fights near a crowd of people with camera phones This is one of the many examples of stupidity that this book excels at They manage to make one character kind of interesting while the others are action movie caricatures Even Kunoichi who gets a little developed and could have had a potentially interesting struggle against the nanites that threaten her cons [...]

    11. DC tries to revive the Blackhawk Squad as some sort of high tech spec ops team for their New 52 reboot The series was canceled after the initial 8 issue arc, which is a shame because even though these first 8 issues felt a little flat, the characters and group has potential in my eyes The 8 issue series is a little slow The story is interesting enough, and is of a military techno thriller a la Tom Clancy, than a superhero comic Don t worry though there s enough superhero ness to still fit with [...]

    12. This book was generally pretty badly received which is a shame The Blackhawks New 52 reboot sets them up as a secret government agency, along the lines of pre New 52 Checkmate, which discreetly handles problems for the U.N that the public JLI are too colorful to take on The characters were well developed and the plot rattled along, although a little too fast in the final issues but at least they had a chance to close off the ongoing Mother Machine story arc I hope we ll see the new Blackhawk s a [...]

    13. The story and the cast feel like the only research the writer did was watch a lot of action movies, rather than read any Blackhawk comics. We barely meet the cast, mostly because we waste most of the issue focusing on the cool, bad girl of the team. So, when the writer brings in sub plots, we don t really care. Not a bad idea, but the big intro action scene is only cool if the characters seem interesting to us when they are introduced on the fly You get characterization watching a GI Joe cartoon.

    14. There was a cool idea hidden somewhere within this book, but it never really came together There is no question that this is one of the worst New 52 volumes I have read so far in my quest to read all 52 The art was pretty good, and the characters were cool but there were no formal introductions before things got really heavy plot wise I would have liked to see a little simple action, before we got into the heavy duty tech problems and characters talking to others and being all over the place.

    15. This is one of the best of the New 52 books I ve read Which explains why this volume is all that was published A strong action bent with lots of technology and nanocites makes for a rousing adventure There was lots of room to grow with the story, although the eight issues included make a very complete story on their own The main characters were fleshed out well, but a lot of the ancillary characters still had lots of room to grow It s too bad the series wasn t given that chance.

    16. Essentially Agents of SHIELD if it were a bit Warren Ellis and had a limitless budget Daring high tech escapes as a team of elite human operatives face threatening emergent technologies Severed limbs Team members hooking up in defiance of workplace policy Cameraphones Plus, crucially, talking dogs Like the Marvel TV show, alas, it is hampered by an indefinable absence of charisma in most of its leads.

    17. I really wanted to like this title All the right elements were there, but the end result just wasn t good enough It goes again to my complaint of too many top secret agencies operating in the same universe I liked the characters and the mayhem, but it went a little too long and their developing powers were a little too vague However, I ll give the next one a shot.

    18. An interesting albeit short lived comic run, Blackhawks never really lived up to the ideas it had I would ve liked to have seen what the writers could ve done with time, and I ll always begrudge the fact that one of the comic adverts promised me Mother Machine fighting the Internet, it never happened in the comics P

    19. Public library copy. While there was tons of action, I didn t feel I got to know the characters enough to care and I wonder if it was intentional by the writer to name one of the main characters after the actor on The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln.

    20. This book was awesome Out of all the war based DC books in the New 52 this was far and beyond my favorite Each character had a unique past and characteristics It has a slight science fiction background with all the nano tech I really wish this series did not get cancelled.

    21. Some nice ideas to do something other than superheroes, but just lacks somethinig Not the art, which is good and perhaps we will see of Lady Blackhawk I was disappointed, whereas The Resurrection Man which I was not, was a lot better.

    22. This was actually pretty decent Secret black ops team funded by the UN, interesting array of characters My only trouble was in understanding the technology nanocytes, etc I m just an analog guy in a digital world

    23. It s kind of remarkable that it only took 8 comics for me to go from pretty uninterested and having no idea what s going on to really enjoying and feeling invested in the characters and wishing the story continued Well done I hope some of these characters show up in some of the other DC comics.

    24. Disappointing, an OK story spoiled by totally changing who the blackhawks are It could have been better, some of the characters were engaging.
